WW PointsPlus Calculator
PointsPlus, used by Weight Watchers from 2010-2015, calculates points based on macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat, and fiber) rather than primarily calories. This system aimed to guide members towards foods that are more filling and nutritious.
About PointsPlus
The PointsPlus system was utilized by WW (Weight Watchers) between 2010 and 2015. It represented a shift from the original points system by considering a broader range of macronutrients to determine a food's value. The PointsPlus formula takes into account:
- Protein: Given a positive weighting, encouraging protein-rich foods for satiety.
- Carbohydrates: Factored into the calculation.
- Fat: Also included in the formula.
- Fiber: Given a negative weighting, meaning higher fiber content could lower the PointsPlus value, promoting fiber intake.
This system aimed to guide members towards foods that were not only calorie-controlled but also more nutritionally balanced and filling. While superseded by SmartPoints, some individuals may still refer to PointsPlus values out of familiarity or preference.
